Bhutan 2026: Hiking Adventure & The Best of the Kingdom

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE JOURNEY

Author’s tour along a unique route through Bhutan’s mountain valleys and ancient towns, featuring the rare Gasa Tsechu festival.

  • GASA TSECHU FESTIVAL

We’ll travel to one of the most remote and authentic regions of Bhutan — Gasa, where the rare Gasa Tsechu festival takes place inside the ancient Gasa Dzong fortress. Monks dressed in bright masks perform the sacred Cham dances, filling the valley with rhythm, music, and spiritual energy. This is a rare event that few travelers witness, as Gasa lies far from popular routes.
  • LAYA VILLAGES

Our journey continues with a trek through the Bhutanese Himalayas to the legendary Laya villages, home to a high-mountain people who have preserved their traditions for centuries. Along the way, we’ll see the majestic peaks of Masagang and Tsenda Gang. In the villages, we’ll be welcomed by locals, share tea, and experience the warm hospitality of the Laya community.
  • TIGER'S NEST

The picturesque Paro Valley is home to Bhutan’s most iconic landmark — the Taktsang Monastery, also known as the Tiger’s Nest, perched dramatically on a cliffside. We’ll hike about 500 meters in elevation, visit ancient temples and shrines, and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the valley below.
  • PUNAKHA

Punakha — the former capital of Bhutan — lies at the confluence of two sacred rivers. Here we’ll visit one of the country’s most beautiful monastery complexes, Punakha Dzong. We’ll cross the suspension bridge, take a walk along the riverbank, and enjoy a peaceful picnic with views of the fortress walls and surrounding mountains.
